A casual bistro serving Japanese & few American style dishes. The owners are eaters and pretty friendly. Give it a try if you are office worker with children, with pets, with baby carriage, or just craving for some Japanese tapas LOL. Daruma bistro always open!
My New Blog in English:THE TAIWAN FOODIE – shia
This is a casual eatery serving authentic Taiwanese dishes. The owners were super friendly and gave us extra items to try since they heard that we drove down from NorCal. Beef Noodle soup and deep fried pork chops over rice were the signature dishes and didn’t disappoint. Give it a try if you are in the Alhambra/Monterey Park areas of LA and craving for some Taiwanese food.
My friend and I had nice dinner in Daruma Bistro few days ago. They serve a lot of moth-watering dishes, we had sushi, salad roll, kimchi, grilled food after recommendation from owners. The decoration is so cool, most of them were antique collection from America. If you are so in these old things, you would definitely LOVE THIS PLACE (menu).
Aburi Salmon Sushi: To our surprise, they put some Mentaiko on the top of Aburi salmon sushi. Soft and tender, the flavour were super rich.
Deep Fried Shrimp Salad Roll: pretty creative, roll fried shrimp, vegetables, Japanese pickle, with some Mayonnaise. I am sure most of ladies would enjoy this crunchy, and juicy sushi roll.
Stir-fry pork with kimchi: Their homemade kimchi were popular, especially Taiwanese. However, the most interesting is some Korean told owners the kimchi were better than the kimchi of their mom LOL. The kimchi was a little bit hot, sour and crunchy. BTW, the pork was a little bit hard to chew, I am sure most children wont like this.
Grilled Chicken with Walleye Pollack Roe (Mentaiko). Pollack Roe is called mentaiko (明太子) in Japanese. The seasoning of Mentaiko is acceptable for me, not that fish smell (some brands of mentaiko were disgusting…for me).
We had ginger Ale and Dita with juice tonight. I am sure I would be here again.
How to get here? Only 10 mins from MRT Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Station to Daruma by walk.
